A small company, built carefully, around software that stays on your computer.
The homepage describes the philosophy. This page describes the practice — what Albedo One is, how it operates, and what its constraints are.
The structural facts
Albedo One is an independent software company. It is small by design, not by stage.
Funded by what it sells, with no plans to change that. Its work is split across distinct products, each released under its own name — Nest today, Vesper later — rather than under one umbrella brand.
The aim is a small number of useful things, made well, over a long time.
Working practice
- Release cadence
- When ready, not on schedule.
- Product order
- One landed before the next is started.
- Dependencies
- Fewer, chosen more carefully.
- Marketing
- None as a discipline. The product is made to work when needed, every time it is used.
- Data
- None collected that isn’t strictly required.
- Funding
- Sales. Not investors, not advertising.
Current portfolio
Two products are in the picture right now.
Nest is a small local document organizer, in development. Vesper is a future local-first backup tool, still planned. Each lives on its own site and runs its own schedule.
There may be more later; there may not. New products will appear here only when they are worth talking about.
For general company questions, the Contact page is the right place. For Nest-specific help, the Nest site has its own help section.
